👉 If you love growing tomatoes but hate canning, this method might become your new favorite! 🍅
In this video, I show you exactly how I turn fresh garden tomatoes into dehydrated tomato powder—an easy, space-saving way to preserve your harvest without standing over a hot stove or using a pressure canner.
Tomato powder stores beautifully and can be rehydrated anytime to make delicious homemade tomato sauce, soups, stews, chili, and more. It's one of my favorite food preservation methods because it's simple, efficient, and perfect for busy gardeners and homesteaders.
NOTE: there is one simple, but important, step I forgot to show in this video! Here are the steps (steps 4&5 were done off camera):
1. Dehydrate your pureed tomatoes.
3. Using a high-quality blender, turn your dried tomato sheets into powder.
4. Preheat to 150 degrees and then TURN OFF oven.
5. Place your powder on parchment paper, on a cookie tray, and put in oven for ½ an hour.
6. Let cool briefly (just a few minutes, not long enough for the powder to take on moisture from the air).
7. Store in a mason jar with sealed lid or other vacuum sealed bag.
