The son of the legendary Sir Malcolm Campbell, Donald Campbell always seemed driven to try to match, if not surpass his father's achievements as a world speed record holder. On 4 January 1967, for reasons that remain unclear, Campbell made the fateful decision to not wait to refuel before making a second water speed record attempt in the jet-powered Bluebird K7. He lost control of the Bluebird and it crashed, killing him.
Note that this documentary was made in 1996, before Donald Campbell's body was finally discovered in 2001.
