David E. Taylor’s federal case has taken another serious turn, and the latest superseding indictment appears to make the situation surrounding the Kingdom of God Global Church even worse.

Federal prosecutors have now charged a third high-ranking ministry leader, Kathleen Klein, in connection with the alleged multi-state forced-labor conspiracy. According to the Department of Justice, Klein allegedly participated in a system that used psychological pressure, threats, punishment, and coercion to force ministry members to work in fundraising call centers across Michigan, Florida, Texas, and Missouri.
David Taylor and ministry executive Michelle Brannon were originally arrested and charged in August 2025. Prosecutors accuse them of operating an organization in which followers were allegedly forced to work extremely long hours, meet demanding fundraising quotas, sleep in ministry-controlled facilities, and surrender control over major parts of their lives. The government claims that workers were threatened with homelessness, food deprivation, divine punishment, public humiliation, and other consequences when they failed to comply.
Authorities allege that the ministry collected approximately $50 million in donations while many of the people raising that money received little or no compensation. Prosecutors also claim that ministry funds were used to purchase expensive homes, luxury vehicles, recreational equipment, and other assets benefiting the organization’s leadership.
The addition of another alleged participant is important because prosecutors are no longer presenting this simply as misconduct involving only one or two individuals. The superseding indictment appears to strengthen the government’s argument that this was an organized system involving multiple leaders, several ministry properties, fundraising operations in different states, and numerous alleged victims.
However, an indictment is not a conviction. David Taylor, Michelle Brannon, and Kathleen Klein are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Taylor has pleaded not guilty and has denied the accusations against him.
