Gracie is now safe in the care of our partners, Wildlife SOS. But what you’re seeing in this video is the reality of the dancing bear trade.
These bears were taken as cubs, ripped away from their mothers, and broken down so they could be controlled. A rope would be forced through the muzzle. Their teeth would be smashed out. They would be terrified, hurt, and forced to stand in pain so people could watch them “dance”.
This was never entertainment. It was cruelty.
We helped end this trade on the streets of India, so you should not be seeing suffering like this anymore.
But people are still trying to bring it back.
And that brings us to Gracie.
When our partners, Wildlife SOS, found her, the rope was still embedded in her nose. It had been there so long it had to be removed in surgery.
We are now desperately trying to raise funds for her care.
