Switzerland charms with its Alps and many traditional villages and houses. There is this secret valley in Ticino that is a true paradise for hikers who love to explore the most remote areas of Switzerland. Sometimes, the best secrets of Switzerland lay in the less visited corners, such as at this lonely place in the Swiss Alps. It takes roughly 1 and a half hours to hike up to this crazy and unique house. The first part of the hike is steep, the ascent is roughly 200 meters to reach the village just at the top of the waterfall. You then will arrive at a small settlement by the creek that charms with a wonderful bridge that makes one of the best photo motifs of Ticino. The bridge at the folk village of Puntid. The hike then goes along the creek, it’s certainly a lot easier. The trail will lead you through numerous rocks that fell during a mountain slide that happened centuries ago. This mountain slide is the reason, why many of the locals built their houses beneath the rocks. These unique folk houses are like Hobbit houses, they give a safe shelter and certainly are more protected against any mountain slides than the previous ones. These unique hobbit houses are called Splüi by the locals. The roofs of these houses are made by the rocks themselves. The Splüia Bela is the most unique and craziest of these typical houses of Ticino. Although it may take quite a while to reach, the hike is very much worth it. The tranquility at the house, the loneliness and the connection to the nature and the Swiss Alps is unbelievably beautiful.
