KOJRO Retro innovations | The Commodore 64 resurrection series, Part 9. I’ve got the power, sort of... @kojroRI | Uploaded May 2022 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
This is part 9 in a series of videos where we celebrate the 40-year anniversary of the Commodore 64 by doing a bunch of repair videos. As you might know the power brick of the C64 is known to be one of the biggest hazards to the safety of our remaining working C64’s. But are the bad reputation og the power brick based on real life facts, or is this a hype created to sell more new power supplies, og other clever “power saver” devices that make our bellowed C64’s safe even if it exposed to a struggling old power supply. This 9th and 9.x series of videos is meant to be a deep dive into the world of Commodore PSU’s
I have a lot of old C64’s both single motherboards and complete systems. Nearly all of them need some kind of attention now, and many of them have been neglected now for the best part of 30 years, and shows the sign of that. In the prequel to this series I did build a SixtyClone board to have as a reference, and tool to test chips and other peripherals. I do appreciate feedback, and I find it difficult to maintain a good rhythm on these repairs, so some pointers will be appreciated. So happy birthday C64, and as an appreciation for the community and the future of the remaining C64’s out there. Here is my number 9 video in the C64 Resurrection series, so let’s celebrate our favorite 8-bit computer. #C64 #KOJRO #commodore
