This time we continue with the Sixtyclone, a replica of the original C64 motherboard with all new components (almost). This time it’s about placing components and completing the build. We also have to test and maybe do some fault finding if we don’t get it to work, This board has a lot of SIF sockets and the main purpose of this board is to use it as a tool to fix my other C64’s. So this is really a start on a long series where I will be fixing all my old C64’s.You can consider this a 40 year anniversary gift to Commodore, as this January it’s 40 years since the C64 was first launched.
Back in the day a worked as a technician on Commodore equipment and I have a lot of experience, but the kind of faults that happens to the old C64’s has changed with age so I will have to do some adaption of my routines to find out what’s wrong. To build this machine I have dug deep into my parts bin, and also bought some new modern replacement parts. I also build a small RF modulator replacement as part of this video. #C64 #Commodore #Sixtyclone
