What does it mean in Revelation 22 when it says that you can have your name removed from the Book of Life?

...and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelation 22:19)

No, this does not mean your name will be removed.

We have to make two observations.

Observation 1: This is a common way to stress the importance of obedience.

See Deuteronomy 4:1-2 and 29:19-20.

Observation 2: It is a warning to those who reject the invitation.

This is written to unbelievers. Note that it does not say that a "name" will be removed, but that a "part" will be taken away.

Conclusion: Revelation 22:18-19 is a warning: If you reject God’s offer of life, you will experience God’s wrath.
