This is one that a number of people have asked for in recent months. Figured it was about time! I’ve heard people say before that Ringo’s drumming on this track was a loop. That is definitely not the case! Ringo was so incredibly solid that he could play this repetitive pattern for three straight minutes without the tempo wavering at all. Such an inventive drum part for an equally inventive song. I can’t imagine what it must have been like to hear this for the first time when it came out in 1966. It still sounds so fresh and innovative 60 years later.

One thing I’d like to mention is that the tambourine overdub took me longer to record than the actual drum part! It’s such a random tambourine part. Constantly changing and cutting out and coming back in at the strangest of times. I love it though and it adds a ton to the track.
