This is an interesting drum part as it’s very sparse due to the lack of any hi hat, but also much busier and more syncopated on the bass drum. Ringo doesn’t play a consistent kick pattern in the verses. If you listen to the isolated drum track, you can hear that he sometimes plays the more complicated pattern with the bass drum playing the “a” count right before beat 3. Other times he leaves it out and there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when or why he leaves it out. You can’t really hear it in the full mix but it’s very clear in the isolated track. Quite interesting!
Also, I’m basing the percussion overdubs here off of the mono mix. They’re slightly different than the stereo mix. The cowbell gets a little sloppy here and there in the actual recording and I tried to keep it somewhat loose in this cover as well.
