Two 30 minute presentations in one session…
The Art of…The Smile
You know smiling is important, but it might be more important than you think. Find out how smiles help children develop – and learn empathy.
Inspired by research, Pete will explore the history of smiling; why we smile, what different smiles mean and most importantly how smiles help us to develop. The session will show how popular pre-school shows are already masters of inspiring smiles, and how they help young children to learn empathy and become more confident socially and mentally. There will also be tips for content makers on how to create content that gets your audience smiling and laughing.
Presented by Peter Robinson and Nadine Bailey
The Art of…Keeping it Real
Kids can spot a fake a mile off! Find out why authenticity matters so much to them, and how they value seeing people and places on screen that they can identify with and learn from.
Content makers know the importance of authenticity in what they create. This session explores what children see as authentic – whether it’s a presenter or an influencer, or the way a location is depicted on screen. For older children, what do they take from the way global news is presented? What do they think of politicians? We’ll look at examples of authentic content on different platforms and hear from kids themselves about what they judge to be ‘real’.
Presented by Ian France and Kez Margrie
