In-depth meteorological breakdown of the Moderate Risk severe weather event across the Midwest and Mid-South on April 27, 2026. The Storm Prediction Center issued a Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Tornado Watch for parts of Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee with the expectation of multiple strong to intense tornadoes, but all of the tornadoes that occurred were weak, and most were quite brief. Instead, large hail and damaging winds dominated the severe weather reports for the day.
