A large number of different types of mobile phone tower can be seen around the globe. The different types of mobile phone tower arise from different local laws and planning regulations. In some countries much taller masts are allowed and can be seen in many areas. In other areas smaller masts may be required for technical reasons.
In some applications street poles of columns are becoming more commonplace. These can easily be installed in a street to give coverage in an urban area. They are also not quite as unsightly as other forms of mobile phone masts and towers and as such they are being used increasingly. Being not so tall means that their coverage area is smaller and this allows for a much denser network with smaller cells and this enables the overall network capacity to increase.
Some mobile phone antennas and base station use very tall telecommunications towers that are also used for other purposes. Often the mobile phone antennas are not mounted too high to keep the cell size to the required limits.
Mobile phone towers and the base stations can be found in virtually all areas of the globe and in all countries. They may be found in built up towns and cities as well as in much more urban areas.
