Thanksgiving is just around the corner, so I’m getting a few things ready ahead of time. Today I’m making a homemade cream of mushroom soup for our green bean casserole and some cornbread for the dressing. I used a mix of wild mushrooms that I rehydrated this morning and added French onion soup for extra flavor—it smells amazing already. The cornbread’s baking in a cast iron skillet with a little bacon grease, which gives it the best crust. I’ll show you how I freeze the soup, talk through why it’s better than the canned kind, and share what’s coming up next on my holiday menu. Stick around—it’s cozy, easy, and just good old-fashioned kitchen time.
