Brainache Codemasters 1987
This single-screen (or multi-screen scrolling?) platformer follows Harry "Brainache" Jones. Like a complete plonker he's left his mining equipment on the hostile planet NESBIT which he must retrieve and return to his spacecraft.
You control Jones through challenging platforming sections filled with enemies and obstacles. As you clumsily descend the alien underworld to locate your kit the colour clash ramps up and becomes almost psychedelic. Dodging the enemy bugs can prove very buggy and at times as you can get stuck on the scenery. The collision detection and enemy patterns can feel punishing or inconsistent, almost broken at times.
This game feels very messy
but it still has a bit of charm but avoiding the buggy colour clash might give you a real Brainache.
