Welcoming more than 500,000 visitors every year, the Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission is the largest festival of its kind in the United States. What was once three stages across 15 acres of land at its inception in 1974 is now 21 stages across 70 acres of (carefully landscaped) land. The festival also boasts 500 costumed actors and 400 vendors.
In this 1984 episode of PM Magazine, host Maryanne Walser checks out one of the Texas Renaissance Festival's most unique traditions: the Mud Show. First performed in 1980, the Sturdy Beggars still perform at the festival every year.
