Description: First of all this is my FIRST attempt at calibrating a Tektronix 2400 series Oscilloscope, and my second scope that I have calibrated. The first scope was a Kikusui COS6100 about 8 years ago. Did fine on that one, but it was all manual, no internal computers to check on you. Also, you could do it with some pretty common test equipment, the TEK 2400 series you can't.

This Tektronix 2465B Fails Test 04 Step 11 and after clearing the Diagnostic Fault screen it leaves a string of "?" marks in spaces that should be empty. This is one of the hardest problems to fix for the average home technician as it requires a lot of expensive test equipment to calibrate the oscilloscope. See the Service Manual Chapter 4 pages 4-1 & 4-2 for a list of equipment needed.
The main problem is you must inject very precise signals to the scope while it’s in the CAL mode and while they are applied the scopes computer analyzes these signals and sets up the Calibration Constants and stores them in the RAM chip. So, this means you CAN"T just pump any close signal into the scope and advance the CAL Mode step because the scope has certain limits set inside. If it does not detect a signal within the limits it displays a "LIMIT" word next to the step you’re performing and force you to repeat the step, and will not let you advance in the CAL Mode Steps any further. I don't have the "Recommended" equipment in the shop so I’m having to guess what the signals are, then inject them to see if the on-board computer will accept them.

Just to even start you'll need the manual:
Tektronix P/N: 070-6863-01
Service Manual 2465B/2467B the 1988 version.

For the Newer A5 cards that have the Dallas IC, try reading this article to addapt in a newer Non-Volatile IC; worldphaco.com/uploads/TEKTRONIX_2465b_OSCILLOSCOPE_CALIBRATION___REPOWERING_THE_DS1225.pdf
So, I hope I get to complete this video series on doing the calibration, but it's iffy at best without the right equipment and time needed to figure it out. I’m allowed to shoot the videos provided they don't interfere with the allotted time, but I must edit them on my own time, and on my own equipment.
If you have done the calibration on the scope with common shop equipment, or know what signals to inject at each step PLEASE comment or drop me a message on my "about" tab on my home page.
Some things you may need to know. I don't have a Oscilloscope Calibrator at my disposal. :O(...
Best Wishes n Blessings. Keith
