The Last Adventurer | Tecate Peak - a sacred mountain located on the Mexico border! @TheLastAdventurer | Uploaded May 2020 | Updated October 2024, 7 hours ago.
At 3,885 feet of elevation, Tecate Peak is the most prominent mountain along the U.S. - Mexico border, and one of the "100 peaks" of the Sierra Club list for San Diego County. Tecate Peak is also a place of cultural and historic significance to the indigenous Kumeyaay People, who referred to the mountain originally as Kuuchamaa. For those today who are willing to take an off-road drive; and hike over nine miles, the mountain remains a source of wilderness solitude and adventure.
