Split chains, like split rings, are very useful when wanting to move from one round of tatting to the next without having to cut and tie.

I previously made this video with captions, here it is with speech. Split chains can be a bit tricky but I'm a fan of this particular method for making them. This is the way to make a split chain when working "traditional" tatting. There will be a sister video to this one where I will show how to make the split chain if you prefer to work FS/BS - coming up soon!
