Just talking about purling as I knit. I'm still doing both stitches (knit & purl) to be able to examine the transition and the change of speed between one and the other. I never let go of my needle to wrap the yarn and all the work is done with just a little flick of the index finger to get the yarn around the tip of the needle. This works whether you are knitting or purling. I find this method of knitting really efficient.
(Apologies for the several stitches where I miss or fumble, it's always a little nerve-wracking when you know the camera is on!). :-)
