PurpleSun | [TAS] SMG2: Gravity Gauntlet Comet in 23.26s [Mario, cutscenes] @PurpleSunTAS | Uploaded 2 years ago | Updated 3 minutes ago
Mario and 2P gravitify to a star in 23.26 seconds [IGT, 1396 frames].
This star doesn't find its way into an Any% TAS due to how the route works without having a pre-filled Banktoad, and the detour for the Comet Medal.
But I did it anyways since I was already testing the two routes for normal star (this Inside the Castle trick vs. nemi's lava boost route) and wanted to test the fast slope jump trick RhoThanos found a while ago.
This improved my Luigi no cutscenes TAS that did a long jump from the pillar (and didn't get the squeezed long jump under the Magikoopa): youtu.be/9NSPlwwCMsI
This could potentially be improved further by trying a squeezed long jump under the first Magikoopa on the way to the firebars.
The fast slope jump: Sometimes slopes can give a lot of speed when starting to slide on them (no idea why), and then slope jumping can keep that speed without decelerating.
