This is not one of those “First Things You Must Change on your Mac”, but as it happens, it’s the first thing I change on my Mac, at least Macs with trackpads. Go to Settings, Trackpad, turn on Tap to Click. Now instead of pressing down hard, you just touch the trackpad. Tiny change, big difference.
