In this jam-packed final installment of our three-part series, take a walk in the woods at the Humber Arboretum with Reid Williamson of Sustainable Roots.

First you’ll learn a bit about dandelions and why Reid calls them a ‘hot topic’.

You’ll find out about plantain, a sort of magical plant that has the ability to soothe burns and skin injuries.

Next, learn how to identify one of the early spring ephemerals, the trout lily, and find out why it’s called a ‘trout’ lily.

Discover why ants are the unsung heroes of the forest for the seed spreading abilities.

And lastly, find out a bit about phragmites, the invasive species curse of North American wetlands, and how even it has utility, as a carbon sink.

All in all, just your basic mind-boggling, information-filled five minute walk in the woods.

Catch up with the rest of the series! Watch part one to learn more about Reid Williamson and what she does with her company, Sustainable Roots.
