Here's a wilderness survival kit I've been using lately. Army ammo pouches can be found at Army Surplus stores or on eBay, usually around $5 to $10 USD. They typically have grenade holders on the sides that I opted to remove (Size: 7" x 3.5" x 2.5"). A mini loaf pan fits nicely inside (Size: about 6" x 3" x 2").
It's small & light enough to cover important survival needs, yet not so big or heavy that I don't mind carrying it even if going on a simple day hike.
