This vid was done in one take so I'm a bit rusty as it's been awhile.
Practicing friction fire skills. IHatchetJack came up with the idea of Friction Fire Tuesday. Making it a point to regularly practice the skill.
Here I just did a quick vid using an old pump drill to get the juices flowin' again. I used Longleaf Yellow Pine for both the spindle & fireboard.
Looks like I need the practice, ha ha. Anybody have an idea why I couldn't blow the tinder bundle into flame? I know. I needed to squash the bundle to make it more dense. It was too spread out to the point where the ember couldn't ignite enough of the material around it because there was more air space than burnable material. So, the ember eventually went out.
Anyway, I opted to keep the failure in the vid to show that ya don't always get a fire the first time, every time.
Plus, this gave me a chance to tinker with video editing features. Adding a music track and speeding up parts of the vid.
By the way, the music is a royalty free song called:

So, not bad for a quick and off-the-cuff vid.
