Here I talk about the Survival Genre, one that is popular but also one that people have their gripes with. It's a genre built around a sandbox experience of player freedom, exploration and immersion. More hardcore experiences like SCUM, DayZ and Rust can make for unforgiving experiences, but there are reasons why so many people play them beyond the loot.
