Here is a 10 minute collection of superstitions and beliefs that I recorded in September 2011 here in Bunclody, Co. Wexford with a group of Traveller women from the area.
I hadn’t watched this video since then and the women and their stories are brilliant. I grew up with many of these stories via my own mother and she had so many of these too.
Story after story, and all told with such conviction and honesty. I love working with Traveller women as they always remind me of my own mother. Sadly one of the women in this clip, Sally Connors from Bunclody passed away last year and she was a lovely woman and a fantastic singer.
