I've actually always loved this slow creepy piece that accompanies the Spore Spawn and Botwoon boss fights in Super Metroid. This relatively simple piece of music has always stood out as one of the most atmospheric pieces of the soundtrack to me, and as a child had me genuinely terrified of facing Spore Spawn.
Fifth upload for my fanmade soundtrack for the game that never was, Super Metroid 64. Be sure to check out the rest of the soundtrack here: youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoQM35u0mGbO9ecfwU5PcLMJGdq53jjrm
Hope you guys enjoy! This project is finally really coming together!
Using sound samples from Super Mario 64 and Goldeneye 007 I have attempted to create my take on what the soundtrack to a Metroid game for Nintendo 64 could have sounded like!
Fueled as always by morbid curiosity and nostalgia!

![Those Four Chords [Synthwave style chiptune / Sega Genesis sounds]
I wanted to play around with one of the most generic and cheesy chord progressions, Am, F#, C, G, but with a twist, so all of the chords are 7th chord variations, and the melody and bass line contain many bluesy notes outside of the standard Am scale.
Also some variations on the chord progressions start with the C chord, essentially forming a subtle key change to C major.
An experiment in creating a warm, 80s synth style texture, focusing mostly on the progression of the chords.
Choppy tuney, day 23.
