BCCless stands for Blockless, Coinless, Cannonless. This is the SM64DS equivalent of the Capless, Coinless, Cannonless challenge in SM64. This challenge aims to collect as many stars as possible without hitting any ? Blocks, collecting any coins, or entering any cannons.

This trick makes it possible to complete both Slip Slidin' Away and Big Penguin Race BCCless. In the video I show off beating Slip Slidin' Away BCCless, but the strat would be the same for Big Penguin race up until entering the chimney. This was previously impossible due to the coins blocking the way to the chimney. Unlike in SM64, it isn't possible to just clip through a wall to get in (youtube.com/watch?v=VPMiF4RMGzM). So I had to come up with a far more creative strategy: probably the most complex series of events for any trick in SM64DS.

To do this, I first enter the stage as Yoshi, wearing Mario's cap. I wake up the owl (to be used later), and then do a clip (youtube.com/watch?v=iueo2w4Mbus) to reach the small portion of water underneath the ice. This clip has to be done as Mario as I need to walljump to be able to reach the water.
After diving to reach the water I stay OoB, allowing me to swim in the air. I swim over to the wind current while angling myself towards the bridge above me.

This is where the new glitch I found begins: being blown out of a wind current while in the water will confuse the game and make it think that you are still in the water, in some respects. Just falling back down to the water will not allow you to re-enter it, as there is not meant to be water there, but there is still a blue tint on your character. However, getting hit by an enemy will allow you to re-enter the water. When you get hit by an enemy with this glitch active, the game will try to pull you downwards towards the surface of the water. If there is a platform below you then you will fall to its height, and play an animation as if you had hit an enemy while in water. Then once the animation is over the glitch will end. I have decided to call this glitch Water Storage.

By hitting the snowman at a specific position over the edge of the bridge I can downwarp back to the water with no platforms blocking me. This means I lose Mario's hat and am now playing as Yoshi.
I now get Water Storage again and then use the wind current to reach the owl, and then ride him all the way to the top of the map. Walking on the ground will cancel the glitch, but jumping shortly after landing while not holding a direction will preserve it, much like the glitch to carry bunnies or Ukiki anywhere. The glitched state can also be preserved by sliding down a slope. I make use of this and let go of the owl and then fall onto a slope. Eating the spindrift while moving upwards means Yoshi can jump again when he lands, still keeping Water Storage active. I now do some more neutral jumps and slope jumps to get next to the chimney.

It took me quite a while to figure out how to successfully bypass the coins above the chimney. With cheats I determined that it was possible using a spindrift floating in the air above the coins. However, a spindrift in a spot on the ground didn't work: the spindrift would hit Yoshi and he would do the getting hit in water animation, and instantly fall off each ledge as he moved backwards. This meant that I still collected the coins before downwarping into the loading zone. My next idea was to spit a spindrift out, and get hit by it in mid-air. When a spindrift is off-screen it doesn't move, meaning that I could spit it out at the start of the stage and leave it there until I needed it. Unfortunately when a spindrift is spat out it will instantly die when it touches you (while still in the air), so that method didn't work.
My next idea was to bring the shell up, and hit myself with it in mid-air. However eating the shell with Water Storage active will instantly make you ride it from your current position for some strange reason, so that idea didn't work.
It seemed hopeless... until I realised that creating an egg by pressing R has the same effect as hitting an enemy. So I simply pressed R while over the coins to create an egg, downwarping me into the loading zone.

After entering the chimney I did a cool OoB strat to reach the end, but it's possible to avoid all the coins just going down the slide normally (as is necessary for Big Penguin Race). Then after exiting I just collect the star!
