I thought sunglasses were bad only because they led to sunburn (the brain doesn’t get the signal of the time of day and therefore no protective melanin is sent to the skin.
But Matt Maruca @ra_optics explains that since sunglasses make it seem darker, the pupils open wider and therefore the eyes receive more damaging sun rays than they would otherwise (w/o glasses). 🤯
