Sun City firefighters have introduced a new medical tool to treat severe heat stroke patients using cold ice immersion. Debuted in August 2026, the technology is designed for individuals suffering from heat stroke who have a body temperature over 104 degrees.

Firefighter Marcus demonstrated how the emergency technique functions during a rescue response. Firefighters pack ice into an immersion bag, submerge the patient, add four to five additional bags of ice, and add water to create a slurry mix that rapidly lowers body temperature.
