A manhunt across parts of Arizona has ended after suspect Alex Barnett was taken into custody. Law enforcement officers arrested the 33-year-old following a three-hour standoff at a Tucson apartment complex where the Pima Regional SWAT team was deployed. The Pima County Sheriff's Department served a search warrant before calling in SWAT, which led to the cancellation of an officially issued Blue Alert. Nearby apartments were evacuated as a precaution, and no injuries were reported during the surrender.
Barnett was wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Tucson police recruit Carlos Ramirez and the severe injury of Ramirez's girlfriend. The victims were discovered shot inside their home last Wednesday. The surviving victim, who is pregnant, works as a Pinal County Sheriff's Office corrections officer. Surveillance footage from the scene captured two additional suspects alongside Barnett.
One of the co-suspects, identified as Santiago Rogers, was taken into custody on Saturday and charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault. Investigators confirmed that a third suspect seen in the surveillance video has been located by law enforcement. However, that man has not yet been publicly identified or formally arrested.
