The St. Regis Residences in Casares, Costa del Sol | Architecture by Studio MK27
Set within the prestigious Finca Cortesin estate, between Marbella and Sotogrande on Spain’s Costa del Sol, The St. Regis Residences, Casares brings together architecture, hospitality, landscape, and craftsmanship to redefine contemporary luxury living.
Designed by Studio MK27 under the leadership of senior architect Suzana Glogowski, the development comprises just 46 private residences distributed across eight low-rise buildings, with homes ranging from 270 to 590 square meters. Rather than following the conventions of a typical condominium, the project was conceived to offer the atmosphere and spatial generosity of private villas, while combining the convenience, services, and amenities of a world-class branded residential community.
Developed by Caledonian in partnership with the St. Regis brand, this is the first St. Regis branded residence in Spain and one of only a handful in Europe. The project is the result of a collaboration built on more than a decade of trust between the developer and Studio MK27—allowing the practice to translate its highly crafted, residential approach into a larger architectural vision without compromising its identity.
Instead of imposing architecture onto the site, the design follows the natural topography of the landscape. Each building has been carefully positioned to maximize panoramic views of the Mediterranean while ensuring that every residence, regardless of its location, maintains a strong visual and physical relationship with nature. Expansive terraces, abundant vegetation, and low-rise volumes create a sense of privacy and openness rarely found in multi-family developments.
Materiality plays a central role in reinforcing this connection. Exposed concrete, natural stone, solid oak, and Accoya wood were selected not only for their durability and craftsmanship, but also for their ability to age gracefully and become increasingly integrated with the surrounding environment. Landscape architect Isabel Duprat extends this dialogue through native Mediterranean planting, while lighting designer María Covarrubias shapes the atmosphere after sunset, revealing architecture through carefully orchestrated light and shadow.
The interiors, designed by Lázaro Rosa-Violán, complement the architectural language with a timeless material palette that balances refinement, warmth, and comfort. Together, architecture, interiors, landscape, and light create an experience where the boundaries between indoors and outdoors almost disappear—a defining characteristic of Studio MK27's work.
Residents also benefit from more than 1,250 square meters of wellness and communal amenities, including a spa, fitness center, yoga and Pilates studios, heated pools, wine cellar, private cinema, library, and gathering spaces, all integrated into the broader Finca Cortesin estate and its celebrated golf course and Mediterranean landscape.
