The Montauk Project is the real government experiment Stranger Things was based on, and filmmaker Chad Riley believes what they opened at Camp Hero never fully closed. In this full interview he lays out how a facility on Long Island in the early 1980s ran the same playbook as the Netflix show, using children, drugs, and a device called the Montauk Chair to manifest an entity that witnesses described as a giant tearing the base apart.
