I’ve been thinking a lot about where we pull our value from.

In our culture, it usually comes from three places:

What we do.
What we have.
What people think of us.

You see it in almost every social setting.

“What’s your name?”
“What do you do?”

Then, whether we admit it or not, we start assigning value.

I get why this happens.

As someone who has spent years working long days on a business, it is easy to let the business become your identity.

The wins feel personal.
The losses feel personal.
The revenue feels personal.
The perception feels personal.
That is a dangerous place to live.

Because if your identity is tied to what you build, you will feel unstable every time the business has a hard season.

I’m still learning how to detach my value from output and anchor it somewhere deeper.

Be careful what you consume.

Your eyes and mind are constantly being trained on where to find your value.
