Aggressive fighters often pressure forward throwing punches — but one of the smartest counters is to attack their base with a lead leg inside low kick.
In this Warrior Collective video, multiple-time Muay Thai world champion and renowned striking coach Damien Trainor demonstrates how to disrupt aggressive boxing by targeting the opponent’s lead leg.
Trainor began training Muay Thai at just 14 years old and went on to become British champion, European champion and a two-time Muay Thai world champion, competing across the UK, Thailand and Asia before becoming a globally respected coach.
Today he is the head coach of K-Star Legacy Gym in Birmingham, where he works with fighters competing across organisations such as the UFC, Glory Kickboxing and Bellator.
Helping demonstrate the drill is Muay Thai fighter and K-Star Combat Academy head coach Simon Whitehead, showing how this simple tactic can neutralise forward pressure in sparring or competition.
Train this concept to:
• disrupt aggressive opponents
• break their stance and balance
• create openings for punches and counters
