These new STIHL petrol chainsaws are intended for everything from trimming branches around the garden, processing firewood and, with the larger models, felling and processing smaller trees. It’s a simple line-up where, as you move up through the range, the chainsaws rise in engine capacity and power output. The MS 162 has 30cc, MS 172 has 32cc, MS 182 has 36cc and MS 212 has 39cc, so you can choose the petrol chainsaw that best suits your needs. There are various chainsaw bar length options available from 12-inch on the STIHL MS 162 chainsaw through to 16-inch on the MS 182 and MS 212 STIHL chainsaw.
The STIHL MS 162 and MS 172 chainsaws have a traditional side-mounted chain tensioning system, whilst the C-BE versions of the MS 182 and MS 212 chainsaws have quick chain tensioning for easy, tool-free tensioning and changing of the chainsaw chain. They also have an ergo-start system which means pulling the starter cord is less strenuous. On all STIHL MS 182 and MS 212 chainsaws, you have tool-free fuel and oil caps as well as metal bumper spikes
All these STIHL petrol chainsaws have an anti-vibration system to make working with the chainsaw comfortable and to make it easier for you to control and make accurate cuts. The design of the saws is modern and functional, so they’re great to work with. They’re also lightweight and well-balanced. All the chainsaws use 3/8” Picco chainsaw chains, which are manufactured in Switzerland and give good cutting performance, good service life and are easy to sharpen, especially if you use a STIHL 2-in-1 EasyFile.
