The STIHL ASA 20 battery secateurs are the latest addition to the STIHL AS System range of battery-powered tools from STIHL. Designed for homeowners, they are ideal for pruning trees, bushes, shrubs, and ornamental plants in your garden. These battery-powered secateurs can also be used to maintain orchards or vineyards where you’re making many pruning cuts.
Powered by a 10.8-volt lithium-ion battery, they effortlessly cut through branches with a diameter of up to 25 mm in one clean cut. What’s more, the battery that fits the STIHL ASA 20 can also be used in other tools in the AS System range, such as the STIHL GTA 26 cordless pruner, HSA 26 battery shrub shears and SEA 20 vacuum.
To use the ASA 20 electric secateurs, first remove the protective sheath. Then, press and hold the power button at the bottom of the tool for a few seconds. It will make a beeping sound to indicate when the secateurs are turned on and the display screen will light up. Pull the trigger twice to open the secateur blades, allowing you to begin working.
You can set the cordless powered secateurs to two different opening widths by holding the trigger down for 3 seconds. This allows you to adjust the ASA 20 electric secateurs to the type of work you are doing whether that be larger or smaller branches. The screen will show you the charge level and which blade width mode the STIHL ASA 20 is set to. It also shows you the total number of cuts the tool has done from the date of purchase, which is helpful for determining when the blades require maintenance. The ASA 20 can make around 2000 cuts on a single battery charge.
The STIHL ASA 20 battery secateurs have a progressive cut which means the blade follows your finger movement on the trigger. This allows for precise cuts to be made. The fast-closing speed and high cutting performance of the secateur blades means you can work quickly and efficiently with the tool. It has great balance, low weight and an ergonomically designed handle – meaning you can work comfortably over long periods of time.
To turn the STIHL ASA 20 off, hold the trigger for 5 seconds. This will then close the blades when you hear a beeping sound. Once the blades are closed, simply press and hold the power button until you hear another beep which indicates the tool is turned off. If you leave the ASA 20 battery-powered secateurs for a few minutes without using it, it will turn itself off automatically. The STIHL AS 2 battery is inserted at the rear of the tool, so it is out of the way during work. A maintenance tool for the secateur blades is in the battery compartment which allows for easy adjustment of the blade clearance or opening of the service flap if a blade needs to be replaced.
The STIHL ASA 20 cordless secateurs are available as a tool only if you already have the AS 2 battery, or as a set with an AS 2 battery and STIHL AL 1 charger. Some additional accessories for the ASA 20 include Multioil Bio and Superclean spray for the blade set. You can also purchase additional secateur blades for the ASA 20 if they become damaged or worn after use.
