I'm going through the top 20 Favorite Video Game Songs of all time as voted on by my community. This came in at number 11!

The Donkey Kong Country 2 medley I did back in 2011 is one of the most successful videos on this channel and to this day I recieve lots of amazing comments from it. One of my most proud arrangement choices was teasing the song as the intro as if that was all I was going to do of it but then going all out on it at the end.

Originally I was going to go very to the book with this one, not add too much and really try to just capture the original feel. But then I realized I could slam down a big down tuned A at a really cool moment and the whole arrangement changed into going way too metal towards the end, but I kinda dug it so I kept it.

I usually don't use more than one guitar for leads, but I really wanted to emulate the original song's two leads going back and forth and really tried to utilize the warmth of the Majesty with the Plini Neural DSP plugin and the single coil sound of the Jason Richardson with the Abasi to have two distinct sounds. They ended up getting mixed a bit closer that originally intended but I think it serves the cover this way.

Using two different lead guitars and really low tuned guitars made this cover extremely tricky to mix. I had a really hard time using anything of my normal templates so everything here is pretty much from scratch besides a few elements. I even used two seperate drumsets to try and make a bigger transition for the middle. Let me know if you guys dig it!
