Here, I take a nature walk on a hidden trail near the communities of Columbia and Millstadt, Illinois (outside St. Louis). As said on a historical marker, the land was once owned by the Stemler family and it was opened to the public in 2006. There are underground caves (none are accessible to the public) as well as lots of sinkholes on the property. At least three different trails can be accessed.
Several things to keep in mind: while this is a beautiful, peaceful nature trail (in and out of the woods), just remember to be aware of your surroundings and treat the trail like your own. Usually the same rules when it comes to hiking apply, such as bug spray and looking out for uneven paths.
