Along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), I visit a coastal town - Carpinteria (Spanish for "carpentry"). It advertises itself having the "World's Safest Beach," and has the largest Torrey pine tree in the world. I did not go to the beach, spending most of the time walking downtown.
The city was designated a California Historical Landmark No. 535 in 1955.
