Just a short drive away from the Pacific Coast Highway (CA Highway 1) in Malibu is Point Dume State Beach. It is with the Point Dume Nature Reserve which features hiking trails that lead to the bluff, where a historical plaque is located. The bluff is considered the north end of Santa Monica Bay. In this episode, I hike to the top, as well as checking out views of the Pacific Ocean.
Point Dume was named by George Vancouver in 1793 during his exploration of the West Coast, in honor of Padre Francisco Dumetz of Mission San Buenaventura. Several films and television shows have been filmed at this spot.
