In this video, Steigar, released in 1989 for the Atari ST by Screen 7.
Marauder, Soldier of Fortune, Hit man, His business was death and his currency was gold. If there was a problem, any problem, Steigar would make it his problem, at a price. Then came capture. The interrogation. "Too useful to eradicate" the CLA said. Drafted into the US Navy, Steigar is trained to be a hit-and-run helicopter pilot. Now, when the odds seem impossible, Steigar is let loose, dealing death and destruction to the chosen enemy.
With colored graphics (up to 24 on screen simultaneously thanks to software tricks) and a nice sprites, Steigar is a (smooth) side-scrolling shoot'em up with no innovations except for a purely aesthetic thing: the presence of a control lever in the dashboard below the view, which tilts following the movements of the real joystick. Playability and difficulty depends heavily on how you react to a slow moving main sprite. IMHO the helicopter moves too slow making hard to avoid bullets.
Here you'll find loading screens and gameplay.
All footage taken from original hardware machines and upscaled to 1080P.
Let me know what do you think about the video in the comments below but, most important, Enjoy!!!
