Some of this video has already been uploaded to YouTube. Due to upload size restrictions at the time, most clips were only a few minutes long. This video has been re-edited and includes many shots previously excluded. This video was shot in black and white because the deteriorating weather resulted in poor light.
Chengzhie system, Beicheng washery. While at the Nanchang stabling point I heard the sound of a loco slipping. After a ten minute walk in falling snow back to the washery, the SY was still vainly trying to get its train on the move. Help from another SY rescued the stricken loco.
Hengshan Bank was worked by double headed SY plus a banker. This was probably the last location in the world to use this combination of motive power in regular service. The line was dieselised soon after my visit.
