Each year at the beginning of May the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society (HCVS) organises a run from London to Brighton. The vehicles start from Crystal Palace in South London and on arrival in Brighton line up along Madeira Drive on the sea front. This video was shot in Brighton less than a mile from their destination. A wide variety of vehicles take part, all looking magnificent with gleaming paintwork even more so this year in the bright sunshine. Although classified as historic, I am old enough to remember many like this being in everyday use.
The location I chose was less than ideal. Although travelling within the 30mph speed limit, most passed too quickly. There was also too much ordinary traffic but it is a public road! Some vehicles were missed because they chose to use the ‘bus-lane’ (with permission) on the opposite side of the central reservation.
