Episode: "The Schizoid Man"
Doctor Ira Graves, one of humaniy's leading mind in the field of cybernetics is dying from an incurable illness. Keen on bridging the gap between man and machine, Graves has created a system, a process by which it is now possible to transfer the wealth of a persons knowledge into a computer; an achievement that he feels is a step closer to achieving immoratlity.
Answering the distress call from Graves's world, an away team arrive to see if anything can be done to save Graves's life or at least make him comfortable. Unfortunately Doctor Graves dies before the away mission is even concluded.
But before that moment arrives however, Graves takes an interest in one member of the away team in particular: Commander Data. Graves and Data hit it off so well in fact that Data is the one that Graves is inclined to spend his last hours with.
