Episode: "Lonely Among Us"
The Enterprise has been assigned to transport two parties of delegates from competing worlds to a conference on Parliament. Shortly into the voyage, the Enterprise encounters an unusual energy cloud in which a community of energy lifeforms resides. After inadvertently having been caught up in the ship's circuitry, one of these energy beings discovers it can inhabit members of the crew; during those periods of cohabitation however the occupied crewmember experiences a blackout. With several crew members having been invaded coupled with a series of computer system failures, it becomes apparent that this lifeform has actually been trying to get back to its energy cloud.
As the computer system failures aboard the Enterprise persist, Captain Picard presses his people for an explanations, despite which few are offered.
