This run is 1 frame faster than lpzampas old record, using a strategy that was created by sockdude: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHzkrva4Nfk
The optimization is found at target 5. I was able to move slightly closer to the burner when hitting the target, which let me connect with the burner 1 frame sooner. I wasnt able to go another frame faster without missing target 5.
This run requires you to perform the Hazard Invincibility Glitch before starting. The glitch is activated by entering Adventure Mode, going to the Yoshi Team in the Mushroom Kingdom, and dying. When active, the glitch prevents you from becoming invincible upon contact with stage hazards, which allows you to hit the burner after target 9 faster (otherwise, youre still invincible when you come in contact with it).
At 1.46 on the in-game clock, I perform a double jump to the left, then the shallowest possible waveland to the right on the next frame.
With optimal spacing at maximum speed, target 7 empirically has a 70% (350/500) chance of being hit by shadow ball.")

This run is 2 frames faster than AJP Antons old record, which he set in 2007 (!) using an Action Replay (!!) and Melees debug mode (!!!)

(Just to put that into perspective, this record had stood since before I joined the competitive Smash community)
The optimizations are:
* the ECB manipulation dair autocancel at the start of the run, which gets Yoshi actionable on the upper level 1 frame faster
* perfectly spacing the nair on target 7 to delay hitting until the weak hit (which has 1 less frame of hitlag) becomes active
Also note that the action states displayed are 1 frame later than they would appear in debug mode.")

Multiple new strats including a start that saves 0.5 seconds (huge, when the previous record was 8.72)
Theres an optimization that breaks targets 2-4 one frame faster, but it doesnt matter yet because you still have to wait until the cloud gets in position before you can hit target 5.
