Connecticut farmers are preparing for the threat of spotted lanternflies as apple and grape harvest season approaches. Experts say grape vines, apple trees and other fruit-producing plants are especially vulnerable to the invasive insect. At Paradise Hills Vineyard in Wallingford, owner Richard Ruggiero is keeping watch as state experts work to educate farmers and learn more about the pest. The Connecticut Department of Agriculture is also asking people to report spotted lanternfly sightings.
