New court documents reveal more about the events leading up to the death of 4-year-old Akari Cortes, who was hit and killed by a driver in Manchester in June.

According to court documents, Akari left her home around 4:14 a.m. and traveled nearly a mile before she was hit. Police say marijuana was found in her system at the time of her death. Documents also show police had found Akari outside her home alone on two previous occasions earlier that month.

Akari's parents are charged with risk of injury to a minor. The driver, Tarequel Ambia, is also facing charges. His arrest warrant says he was using his phone and driving at least 20 mph over the speed limit when he hit the child.
